What is the PicoSure Laser?

PicoSure Laser is an FDA-approved aesthetic laser treatment that can safely and effectively remove tattoos and treat skin hyperpigmentation. This state-of-the-art device delivers 755nm wavelength laser energy to the skin in picosecond pulses—less than one billionth of a second long—which breaks down melanin, stimulates collagen synthesis, and improves the elasticity of aging skin. 

Which PicoSure Laser does your office use?

At Yi Wellness, we use the PicoSure Pro Platinum machine produced by CynoSure. It is the first and only picosecond laser device on the market to receive FDA approval for the treatment of melasma, and is suitable for all kinds of skin regeneration needs, including firming, wrinkle reduction, pore shrinkage, and pigmentation removal.

How does PicoSure Laser work?

The PicoSure Laser works to remove skin pigmentation through a process called photo disruption. Essentially, the 755nm wavelength laser light is absorbed by the pigment or melanin in the skin and breaks down into tiny particles, which are then eliminated by the body’s natural processes. Because PicoSure delivers the laser energy in ultra-short pulses, it can break down pigment in the skin more effectively while leaving the surrounding skin cells undamaged. Ultimately, this means fewer treatment sessions are required to achieve the desired results.

Is the PicoSure Laser treatment painful?

Before the PicoSure Laser treatment, clients will have a topical numbing cream applied to the areas that will be treated. During treatment, it is normal to feel a warm, tingling sensation in areas with higher concentration of skin pigment, which typically subsides within 5-10 minutes. Yi Wellness also uses a cooling system during the treatment session for optimal comfort. After treatment, some individuals may experience mild redness, which will gradually fade within 2-12 hours.
